Everyone in Portland wants Darius Miles to catch the next trade train out of town…including Darius Miles. The Blazers are desperate to change the Team DNA both on and off the court. This led to an NBA record six trades during the June 2006 draft night. These trades and a couple of moves in July make a young team even younger. The good news is that 2nd year coach Nate McMillen’s hard-nosed approach is perfect for a young team. However, the bloated egos of veterans Miles and underachieving Zach Randolph clash with this coaching style. This means that the Blazers ownership, already tired of losing money, may have to take a financial loss to get these guys out of town. Until the young team matures, especially draft picks Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge, the Portland community will have to settle for a slow start and anticipation that Miles and Randolph are sent packing come the trade deadline.
