Here are the rest of the highlighted games to circle on your calendar as you prepare for the 2007-08 NBA Regular Season:
11/6
Denver at New York
Early in the season we have our first opportunity for suspensions. Oh wait; the first opportunity is when Rasheed Wallace walks on to the court on Halloween.
11/9
Dallas at Golden State
At halftime they will bring back Celebrity Boxing with Nellie versus Cuban.
11/24
Miami at Orlando
We get to find out if there were any hard feelings between Stan Van Gundy and Pat Riley.
12/25
Heat at Cavs 2pm ABC
Suns at Lakers 5:15 ABC
Sonics at Blazers 8pm ESPN
The league puts it’s best foot forward with Shaq, D-Wade, LeBron, Durant, Oden, Nash, and Kobe. Good job! I am looking forward to these games more than I am to Santa!

By this point in the season Dirk will need a Shrink, and so will Nate Dogg.
1/18
Blazers at Miami
Oden versus Shaq on HDTV. Note to self: Buy a Bigger T.V.
2/8
Boston at Minnesota
Boston loses on purpose, but this year to say thanks to Kevin McHale the best GM in sports.
2/22
Boston at Phoenix
NBA Finals Preview (this prediction according to Big D…Nate Dogg is going for the Mavericks in 07-08)
3/9
Spurs at Phoenix
Western Conference Finals preview and I will be courtside to walk 25 feet on to the court so that Amare can stay on the bench and not be suspended by a stupid rule.
4/11
Cavs at Bulls
Joakim Noah, Varejao, and Big Ben Wallace on the floor at the same time. Let’s go crazy with the marketing and hand out free wigs!

The Best Blog Entry on the NBA Scandal So Far…

July 24, 2007

The Best Blog entry on the NBA scandal so far is by ESPN Page 2 writer Bill Simmons. “The Sports Guy” writes:

Before the Donaghy scandal broke, if you told me there was a compromised official working a 2007 playoff game and made me guess the game, I would have selected Game 3 of the Spurs-Suns series. There were some jaw-dropping calls throughout…the whole game was strange. Something seemed off about it. (And) a potentially crooked ref was working that game.” Read entire article

Steve Nash may have been ticked that they changed the basketball last season without consulting with the two-time MVP, but now to know that the series that should have been the Western Conference Finals and maybe should have been (if possible) the NBA Finals was possibly thrown by a cheating official…

I at this moment in the name of Steve Nash declare and predict that the Phoenix Suns will win the NBA Championship in 2007-08. I mean it! You heard it on NBA Unplugged first, from Big D… Mark my words Nate Dogg! No Spurs this time round!

Are you a Programmer? NBA Fans Need You.

July 17, 2007

Here at NBA Unplugged we have some grand visions of what fans, just like ourselves, want in an NBA website/blog/resource.

The thing is, God has blessed Big D and myself with a lot of good looks (haha), just not enough web development abilities.  So we are wondering, is there anyone out there that would want to take our ideas and build a new site for us.  Maybe we go to WordPress.org, maybe not.

The requirements would be, you have to love the NBA, you have to be really good at building websites (we have this graphics designer that can create images for us if necessary), and you have to be willng to do it for the love of the game (a.k.a. free).

So how about it?  Lets build a site that does everything we’ve been looking for in an NBA site.  Let’s build a site that allows fans start out at one place to find all their NBA stuff they want to find.

Just email us – nbaunplugged@gmail.com, and we can chat from there.

Say it ain’t so! Time to Trade Kobe according to the LA Times

May 27, 2007

LA Times “What many fearfully suspected when Jerry Buss handed Bryant the franchise three years ago has been proven true.
Bryant has given Los Angeles fans wonderful moments but, asked to carry an ordinary team, he cannot give them championship moments.  Given his understandable unhappiness, Bryant’s most enduring value is now in the players that can be acquired for him.”  Read

Is Kobe Bryant trying to get a trade done in LA?  Absolutely.  Is he hoping its a trade that includes him?  Sounds like it.  Lamar Odom is having surgery that will hamper his trade value, same for Kwame Brown, and probably the same for Vladimir Radmanovic because he is just coming off of surgery.

So who you gonna’ trade to make your team better?  The Lakers only have one, count it, one tradeable asset that would return something valuable for the next season or two.  That’s Andrew Bynum.  Unfortunately, trading Andrew Bynum for Jason Kidd is not going to be enough to get the Lakers to the championship level.

Rick Carlisle will not be on Pacers bench next season

April 25, 2007

After leading the team to the Eastern Conference finals in his first year as head coach, the last few years have not been as kind, and Rick Carlisle is going to step down from the head coaching position.  Much of Carlisle’s demise can be placed on the Ron Artest situation.  Carlisle never had the chance to work with the talent that was on the roster.
